On 12th February 2018, the Scottish Parliament’s Local Government and Communities Committee published it’s ‘Report on Homelessness‘.
Over the past 11 months, the committee has heard from people who have experienced homelessness, people working on the frontline, the people who deliver services to alleviate homelessness, and those who make decisions on local and national policy in order to learn about the challenges and opportunities that exist.
Shelter Scotland was involved in feeding into this. You can read their blog ‘It’s now time for action to tackle homelessness’ on their website.
The committee also looked at a ‘Housing First‘ approach which is reducing the levels of homelessness in Finland.
Simone Smith and Saffron Rohan (who were both involved in our ‘the Voices’ project) gave evidence to the committee last year, sharing their experiences of homelessness in Scotland.
