Glasgow City Council’s Continuing Care Services are delighted to announce that Glasgow’s 7th Care Leavers Open Day will be held on Friday 27th October from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm.
The day will consist of showcasing both the work of various Corporate parents supporting young people leaving care in Glasgow, and the considerable talents and achievements of Glasgow’s young care leavers themselves. Young people have been involved in the planning and have created the theme for this year: “Dreams and Aspirations”. There will also be a marketplace consisting of over 30 services that provide various supports to young people leaving care in Glasgow.
Glasgow Continuing Care Services have also announced that the well-known comedian, Gary Meikle, has generously agreed to participate in this year’s event. For those who are aware of Gary’s work, you will know that he won Best Newcomer at the Scottish Comedy Awards 2015 and has been described as the next Kevin Bridges…and is also a care leaver. For those who don’t know him, check out his work!
Glasgow Continuing Care Services will be planning a slight departure from last year’s Open Day following feedback from young people. Watch this space for more information.
