It’s been a privilege to serve as a trustee with Staf for the last few years, working alongside other board members and learning how Staf plays its part in promoting the interests and views of care experienced young people. Recently I’ve taken on the role as interim chair of the Finance and HR sub-group of the Board. Reflecting on recent meetings of the group I’ve been struck by the forward thinking of the Staf team and the quality of the financial and resource planning and reporting. This all helps us greatly in our governance role as board members. That governance role is critical to making sure that the organisation is on the best footing to adapt and play its full part in the future, in the interests of young people leaving care.

At the moment we have a vacancy for board treasurer.  In addition to being a trustee, the treasurer has an important specialist role on the board, adding an additional layer of expert knowledge and reassurance to our governance as well as giving support and advice on financial matters to the CEO and members of the Staf team. If you’re reading this sharing our commitment to promoting the interests of young care leavers and thinking ‘I could do that’, the team would love to hear from you.

Dr Gill Robinson.
