Carole worked in Residential Child Care and secure care for over 25 years and holds a diploma in Social Work and Post-graduate diploma in Advanced Residential Child Care.  She is now an Independent Consultant offering training on working with vulnerable girls and staff development for the residential child care sector.

Before moving to being an independent consultant, Carole was the Director of Services at St Mary’s Kenmure. In her previous role she was Depute Head of Service at the Good Shepherd Centre. Carole completed a two-year secondment with the Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice (CYCJ) in 2016, in which she carried out the role of Practice Development Advisor for vulnerable and high-risk girls and young women. She has extensive knowledge and experience in delivering key input into how to work effectively with challenging and complex young girls, in particular, those who use what is referred to as relational aggression as a means to exert control over others.

This role saw Carole write two programmes for staff who work directly and indirectly with vulnerable and high-risk girls. One of these programmes, “Improving Practice for Girls” has now been funded by the Scottish Government to be developed into two PDA, SCQF level 7 and 8.

In addition, Carole is a member of the Cross-Party Group on Women's Justice.
