Norma was brought into Staf in September 2013 in response to the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014. She was tasked with turning the organisation around and tackling the sense of isolation and lack of connectivity within the workforce. Four years on every local authority in Scotland is a member with a further forty organisations also participating.

Passionate about the voice of young people leaving care being central to this work, Staf’s membership is now a dynamic group of practitioners, managers, corporate parents and young people who come together through forums, focus groups and conferences to share good practice, learn, collaborate, network and influence policy.

The organisation has a long history of working with young people with care experience and supporting volunteers into full time employment. Following on from its national projects The Voices and the 2016 report “Listen…Can You Hear Their Voices?, the organisation recently won funding for a more in-depth community project and is working closely with East Ayrshire Council with the goal of engaging all care-experienced young people in the area over the next two years.

Norma’s background is in Education and has built two businesses, one nationally and one internationally.
