Nick has variously worked as a dramaturg for a small theatre company, a Theatre-in-Education practitioner, a stand-up poet, and a script editor, before training to become a teacher of English and Drama to secondary school and FE students, specialising in work with adult returners to learning. She was seconded into an employability project to develop a literacy skills curriculum for people with experience of addictions, which was followed by a spell of frontline work as a project leader, creating the award-winning “Small Change” financial literacy project for StreetWork’s Youth Team. After this she spent over 15 years working to develop policy and practice in homelessness at Homeless Action Scotland, ensuring policy has a firm foundation in evidence-based, inclusive practice with the voice of experience at its core.

Beyond the world of work, Nick is a square-eyed fan of TV drama, stand-up comedy, and Elizabethan theatre. She also enjoys hanging out at home with her wife and their two loudmouthed dachshunds.
