Our Connecting Voices project in East Ayrshire has been working with care-experienced young people, giving them a space to effectively build their confidence and resilience. Our Youth Development Worker, Ruairi Hunter, supports the young people in the group who want to tell their stories in creative an imaginative tools.

Working closely with Tessa MacKenzie (a young artist and illustrator), Kieran kindly shared his story to produce this piece of art. His imaginative and original comic takes us on a journey from feeling isolated and unsure of his place in the world to building a trusting relationship with two workers who made him feel loved and accepted.

Kieran believes that:

"Relationships should be at the heart of the care system because that's what every young person needs when in care."

Copies of Kieran's comic book are available for a donation, which will help to fund the work we do with care-experienced young people.
