Our Supporters

Staf is supported by a wide variety of organisations, which includes our funders, sponsors, members and partners, but also includes the many organisations who have provided us with in-kind gifts.

Staf's core funding comes from the Scottish Government's Children, Young People and Families Early Intervention Fund and the Adult Learning and Empowering Communities (ALEC) fund, both of which are administered and managed by the Corra Foundation.

In 2017, Staf was awarded a grant from the Transform Foundation, allowing us to work with their partner Raising IT to develop our new website.

Youth Justice Voices, our project run in partnership with the Centre for Youth & Criminal Justice (CYCJ) to amplify the voices of care and justice-experienced young people, and Project Return, an exciting new project supporting recovery from trauma, are both funded through the Life Changes Trust.

Our Mapping Relationships project, which aims to embed and enhance relationship-based practice across Scotland, is funded through the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation

Shannon's Box was successfully launched in East Ayrshire Council, with the pilot funded by the National Lottery Community Fund
Books for the boxes were kindly donated by the Scottish Book Trust

In addition, we have received sponsorship from the following organisations to support high-quality learning and development opportunities for our members through national events:

  • Aberlour ChildCare Trust
  • Cyrenians
  • Kibble
  • LinkLiving
  • Life Changes Trust
  • Moore House Care and Education
  • National Fostering Agency
  • Seamab

  • Project Worker (Care Experienced Community)

We have spent many years listening the voice of care experienced young people and one of the messages we hear over and over is that healthy relationships are the key in leading healthy, successful lives. This post holder will engage with managers, practitioners and care experienced young people across our membership to support the roll-out of the REAL Toolkit, a resource which supports the prioritisation and benchmarking of relationship-based practice.

  • Project Development Worker (Project Return)

Project Return has been developed to provide a voice to care experienced young people, including those who have been involved in the justice system, to help create an in-depth understanding of the effects of trauma and how healthy, long-term relationships can help a young person move on.

Age of Criminal Responsibility (Scotland) Bill – Standing Up for Scotland’s Children or Simply Standing Still?

Currently at Stage 1 in the Scottish Parliament, this Bill aims to change the minimum age of criminal responsibility (MACR) to 12 years of age from the current level of 8 – the lowest in Europe. Our article questions whether the Bill goes far enough, and whether it truly works to support Scotland’s children and young people.
