In March 2018, Scotland Works for You published a guidance pack to evaluating the meaning of someone's criminal record to a job or opportunity they've applied for, and also for people with convictions to help them make positive applications for employment.

The guide gives an overview of legislation and disclosures; advice for employers around policies and procedures, making decisions and a safer recruitment checklist; and individuals can find information about what employers can ask, unspent convictions and disclosing convictions.

Scotland Works for You is a collaborative group, established in early 2017, which aims to secure opportunities for young people with convictions to lead positive, healthy lives that contribute to society. The group also aims to reduce the stigma of having a conviction, and the barriers to integration through employment and education.

The organisations behind this collaboration are Disclosure Scotland, Who Cares? Scotland, the Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice at the University of Strathclyde, Positive Prisons? Positive Futures, Celtic Football Club, Reed Global, Police Scotland and the Care Inspectorate.
