Tell us a little bit about yourself as an individual

I’m Allison, I'm 39 and a busy working mum with two children. We also have two crazy pugs, so a lot of my time outside of work is spent walking dogs and being a taxi service for my kids, who are both avid swimmers! In my spare time, I enjoy going out with friends, attending music concerts and festivals. 

 

Tell us a little bit about the work you are involved in

My job is Project Lead for a housing project which is being developed in conjunction with Hillcrest Homes. We received funding from Life Changes Trust and my role is to co-design and co-lead on the project which will provide homes and support for care experienced young people Dundee. 

Our project is an exciting addition to existing housing services in Dundee and young people are at the heart of our project from employment, through to the co-production of services.

 

How did you get involved in The Real Toolkit Advisory Group? 

I initially got involved in The Real Toolkit when it began after speaking to Papoula. I believe relationships are the key to everything and to have a toolkit which encompasses so many different strands of support for a young person who is leaving care or for anyone who would support a young person is a great addition. Our aim is to have a one stop shop which can cover the varying degrees of information available across Scotland. 

 

How have you found co-producing The Real Toolkit with young people with care experience?

I really enjoy the co-production aspect of the work we are carrying out, as I feel it empowers young people and gives them ownership to make a positive change into services which they use.  As The Real Toolkit Advisory Group consists of a range of individuals across Scotland, it’s nice to touch base with others outside of the region we work in.
