Coram Voice have recently published a report 'Care leavers' views on their transition into adulthood: a rapid review of the evidence', written by Dr Clare Baker (Research and Policy Consultant, Children and Young People's Services).

This research forms part of the development work of an online survey, Your Life Beyond Care, to measure the subjective wellbeing of care leavers. The survey has been co-produced with young people and is currently being piloted in two local authorities.

The report identified research that reports the voices of care leavers, not the adult perspectives on their lives, and covers six key areas:

  • Care leavers' experiences of leaving care
  • Life after care
  • Relationships
  • Life as a care leaver
  • Responsibilities of early adulthood
  • Care leavers with additional needs
