The Citizen's Theatre in Glasgow is creating an exciting and innovative new theatre company for care-experienced young adults aged 18-26 that will offer a positive, supportive and empowering creative space where they can explore and learn about all aspects of a professional theatre, develop their creative talents, and tell the stories that are important to them.

The Citizen's Theatre is looking for 15 theatre-makers of the future with energy, commitment, focus and passion who want to perform.

The project will culminate in a new play, written by an experienced playwright working closely with the ensemble that will have its world premiere in Glasgow at Tramway in September 2019. They will also equip their new ensemble of actors to lead workshops in community settings and share their new drama skills with other groups.

Timescale

Recruitment for the company is taking place between August and October 2018. From November 2018 to September 2019, the ensemble will be established and rehearsals for the first production will take place.

Background

This project was developed in close partnership with CELCIS (Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children in Scotland) and is funded by the Life Changes Trust until September 2019. They hope to secure funding for the company to continue long into the future.
