Jen has devoted her career so far to improving the life chances and outcomes for care experienced young people, children and their families and has held a variety of posts in both the third sector and local authority. She has held roles as researcher and development worker working across the secure estate before undertaking her social work degree at Robert Gordon University through the Centre of Excellence for Looked after Children in Scotland (CELCIS). She worked as an Advocate and Regional Manager with Who Cares? Scotland for a number of years until she made the decision to become a social worker within a children and families local authority area team.  Jen has previous held management posts in a Youth Intensive Support Service and Aftercare team. She currently manages East Renfrewshire’s Fostering and Adoption, Intensive Family Support and Champions Board.

Jen has a particular passion for relational based practice and has provided input at conferences including Social Work Scotland and the Scottish Care Leavers Covenant. She hopes to encourage and promote workers and teams that can dare to be different and tailor services that are strength and relationship based.
