Paul joined the board of Staf in April 2019, bringing with him over 20 years'experience of working directly with Young People in various settings.

He is currently employed by West Dunbartonshire Council as a Senior Practitioner and spent a 4 month period in residential childcare in Glasgow.  Paul has recently completed his Post Grad Diploma in Advanced Residential Childcare.  Paul was part of the Care Review and is hopeful of achieving the ambitions set out in the Promise.

Prior to moving to West Dunbartonshire, Paul worked in both Throughcare and Residential settings in Argyll and Bute and West Dunbartonshire for many years. He was also previously seconded to Staf in 2015-16 as Strategic Lead for Learning and Development to cover maternity leave for Pamela.

Paul also has some experience of social work services and the care system as a younger man himself as he received crucial and life-changing support from committed professionals in his own family life through periods of great difficulty.

Paul brings with him a wealth of skills, experience and enthusiasm, at this exciting period in the evaluation and evolution of the care system and hopes that through his involvement with the Staf board can become involved in the development of what emerges.

He is a passionate believer in hearing from young people directly about their lived experience of the care system and a particular interest in looking at what helps, what is useful and the qualities that young people believe makes outstanding, special or excellent workers, carers, social workers, teachers, foster carers, throughcare workers or other corporate parents.

In addition to this, Paul is a loving husband, married to Jo, and father to two twins, Harry and Ivy. He is also passionate about cooking and building pizza ovens in his back garden from scrap materials and old bottles.
